Revit: How do I export a model to Lumion?METHOD 1:
The best way to export
Revit models to
Lumion is via our dedicated
Revit Collada exporter.
The
Revit Collada Exporter for
Lumion 2 and 3 users is available
here.
The
Revit Collada Exporter works with
AutoDesk Revit 2012 and
AutoDesk Revit 2013. It doesn't work with Revit LT versions.
After installing it, it is available in
Revit's default {3D} view via:
Add-ins tab -> External tools -> COLLADA exporter for Lumion users.
METHOD 2:Alternatively, an FBX file can be exported via Revit's built-in FBX exporter (however, we strongly recommend that you use the dedicated
Revit Collada exporter in
Method 1 above).

Revit: How do I export a model?
WarningRevit 2011 and newer versions use an encrypted material system, so if you attempt to import FBX files with encrypted materials they will become white in Lumion. Our dedicated
Revit Collada exporter is able to export about 80% of the encrypted materials though, so you should only use FBX format as a last resort!
For now the workaround for FBX files is:
- Export an
FBX file from
Revit.
- Import the
FBX file in
3D Studio Max.
- Prepare and export the model as described in
this post.
- Import the
Collada (DAE) file in
Lumion.
TroubleshootingI can't assign a Lumion material to individual surfaces?Lumion will always combine surfaces that use the same material in
Revit. If you want to assign a Lumion material to a specific surface, you
must assign a unique material to that surface in
Revit before exporting the model.
How do I update the model in Lumion after making changes to it in Revit?Use the
Reload model function in Lumion.
