CHANGES & RESOLVED ERRORS

IMPORTING

  • Lumion should no longer crash when importing DAE files from Revit.
  • Lumion should no longer flip surfaces when importing mirrored surfaces.

BUILD MODE

  • Grass: Scatter objects in slots 2, 5 and 7 no longer appear in a grid-like formation.
  • Grass: Scatter objects are now always placed in the same terrain material slot as the grass.
  • The number of trees/plants in scene is now displayed in the top right corner.
  • The Reflection Control object is now restricted to Layer 0 only.
  • Going from Edit Clip mode to Build mode, no longer makes trees move too quickly.

MOVIE MODE

  • Cloud effect: The Cloud Speed slider default value is now 0.01 to prevent the clouds from moving too fast.
  • Bloom effect: The minimum value of this effect is now 0.
  • Shots: The last keyframe in a clip should now render correctly.
  • Video textures no longer skip frames when rendering them in 1 and 2 Star quality.
  • Certain other Movie effects no longer make the moon disappear when rendering a single image.
  • Shadow effect: Super resolution no longer causes gaps to appear in the shadows when used in combination with the Global Illumination effect.
  • Global Illumination effect: The minimum value of the Falloff Speed slider is now 0 instead of 0.01 to prevent incorrect extreme lighting in a user-submitted scene.
  • It is no longer possible to copy incompatible effects from a clip to ‘Entire Movie‘ and vice versa.
  • Foliage effect: Grass no longer moves when playback is paused.
  • Trees and plants no longer move when playback is paused.
  • 360 degree Reflection Texture: The sun is now less visible through the terrain when it’s below the horizon.
  • Edit clip mode: The correct camera keyframe should now be removed when deleting the first camera keyframe in a clip.
  • ‘Entire Movie’: The duration on the timeline no longer exceeds the combined duration of the clips.

MODEL LIBRARY

  • Aircraft_002: This model no longer has a missing propeller.

LUMION VIEWER

  • The clouds are now less pixelated.
  • It no longer says ‘Lumion Demo 4.5‘ in the title bar.
  • The Help text is no longer missing when opening an LS4 file without movie clips.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Localization: Cone Angle in the Light properties is now also displayed correctly in other languages than English.
  • Localization: The Reflection effect slider names are now also displayed correctly in other languages than English.
  • Localization: All entries in the Fire properties are now also displayed correctly in other languages than English.

LUMION 4.5: RELEASE NOTES

NEW FEATURES

  • New Merge Scene function (Pro only): This function allows you to add/replace scene elements from another LS4 file in up to four categories (Trees & Plants, Lights, Model Library and Imported models).
  • Shadow effect: Brand new sun shadows – crisper than ever before, and much longer range (Movie/Photo renderings only).
  • Shadow effect: New Soft shadows (Previously called Ambient shadows) – more defined and less blurry (rendered movies and still images only).

  • Vehicles now have a ‘Lights‘ slider for headlights and rearlights in night scenes. This also applies to certain other models in the Transport category, e.g. aircraft and ships.
  • Sun Study effect: New ‘North Offset Angle‘ that allows you to specify the direction of North.
  • Sun effect: New Sun Disk Size slider that allows you to adjust the size of the sun.
  • Moon effect: New effect that allows you to adjust the position and size of the moon.
  • Fountains: New ‘Fountain color‘ selector to simulate coloured lighting.
  • New Reload all selected models button when one or more models are selected in Build mode.
  • Random rotation while ALT-copying trees & plants can now be turned off by holding down the (X) key during the copy operation.
  • Water effect: The Underwater effect has been renamed to Water effect and now includes an Ocean on/off toggle switch.
  • Lumion Viewer: New Show/Hide Layer keyboard shortcut – (ALT) + (0)/(1)/(2)/(3) … (9).
  • Grass: Grass can now be moved from slot 1 to another slot by placing the mouse cursor on the desired slot and pressing the G key.
  • Select object -> Rotate: New rotation interface with sliders for heading, pitch and bank in the top right corner.
  • Select object -> Scale: New scale interface in the top right corner.

IMPORTING

  • Revit To Lumion Bridge version 1.1 update for Revit 2014 & 2015.
  • Collada Exporter for Revit version 2.12 update for Revit 2012 & 2013.
  • DAE import should no longer fail due to missing Visual Studio Redistribution files.
  • SKP import no longer results in several missing textures if one texture is invalid.
  • DAE and SKP files from SketchUp should no longer have flipped surfaces.
  • DWG file import improvement: Better support for single-sided surfaces and 2D elements.
  • DWG file import improvement: Lumion should no longer crash while importing a DWG file with intensive use of colors defined by blocks.
  • Textured Glass is now working again when you import or reload a model.

BUILD MODE

  • Select object -> Move: New position interface with sliders for x, yand z position values in the top right corner.
  • Shadows from tree cluster objects have been improved a little.
  • Grass: Borders are now less abrupt when using custom diffuse/normalmap textures.
  • Layers: Objects should no longer end up on an invalid layer and will be moved to Layer 1 when the scene is loaded again.
  • Layers: Clicking inside the layer name text field while in Place Object mode will no longer add an object to the scene.
  • Drag Model mode (F12): Undo has been implemented, the ocean is no longer being highlighted in green, and flickering green dots no longer appear on the terrain in this mode.
  • Drag Model mode (F12): If you drag an object above the horizon by accident it will now be moved to a position in front of the camera.
  • Selection is inside layer‘ no longer appears when the mouse cursor is near the top of the screen.
  • It is no longer possible to overwrite thumbnail images of objects that were not imported by a user.
  • Ocean: The foam is now whiter when the waves and wind force are at their highest.
  • Text Simple‘: Font selection should now work for multiple selected ‘Text Simple‘ objects.
  • Text Simple‘: The depth order is now correct when these objects are ALT-copied.
  • Text Simple‘: ALT-copying a text object with a return in the text field should now work as expected.
  • Text Simple‘: ‘Return‘ in text is now displayed correctly.
  • Text Simple‘: There is no longer a height difference between the text labels in the preview and the rendered MP4.
  • Selection Count is now updated when executing the ‘Select All Similar‘/’Select All Similar Category‘ commands.
  • Replace with Library Selection‘ no longer randomises the rotation of trees/plants.
  • Aligned objects: It should now be possible to cycle through more than 10 aligned objects via the Arrow Up key.
  • Custom colour is now also applied to lower level-of-detail versions of trees/plants.
  • Adding a white texture to the 3rd terrain slot should no longer make previous terrain paint disappear.
  • Custom Terrain texture: If the user doesn’t pick a Normalmap, a generic texture will be applied.
  • Edit properties: The type-in position values are now updated after moving an object with the Move tools.
  • Edit properties: The first click on the colour palette should now work fine in a fresh session.
  • The resizing functionality for native water planes has been improved.
  • Wheels on cars should now spin correctly again while they’re being moved.
  • Light & Special Objects category: The Light tab is now called Spotlights.
  • Light & Special Objects category: Spotlights that are added to a scene are now set to ‘Speed‘ by default to make scene more efficient to render. This means that the shadows will not be updated unless you move the spotlight or press the U key.
  • Shady areas on trees and plants have been improved.
  • Improved transparency for tree/plant leaves.
  • Middle mouse button (Pan + scrollwheel) are now also slower when the Spacebar is pressed.
  • It is now easier to see which model is selected in the Model Library browser window.
  • The 360 degree Reflection Texture is now updated correctly if you move it outside the camera viewport.
  • It is now possible to place models on the ocean.
  • Models with ‘Lock Position‘ turned on now use red icons.
  • The visibility switch for trees/plants has been improved.
  • The terrain outside the editable area should no longer flicker.
  • Custom heightmaps should now cover the full terrain extent in ‘Limit all texture sizes‘ mode.
  • Siderock on/off state no longer defaults to on when loading a scene.
  • Going from Movie mode (nighttime) to Build mode (daytime) no longer results in a dark horizon.
  • The terrain colour is no longer wrong when you fail to add a Normalmap together with a custom diffuse texture.
  • The ‘Limit all texture sizes‘ option should no longer prevent ‘Make Mountains‘ and ‘Make Large Mountain‘ functions from working.
  • The placement arrow is now resized dynamically depending on the size of the object you are placing.

MOVIE MODE

  • Clip duration can now be specified on a per-clip basis in Movie mode.
  • Hide Layer effect can now be keyframed.
  • Movie effects are now taking up less room when hidden.
  • Advanced Move effect: The default duration has been increased to prevent animations from restarting when reaching the end of the clip.
  • When an MP4 rendering is completed, the MP4 file will automatically show up in Windows Explorer in a pop-up window.
  • The default first clip in a newly created scene is longer the clip that was active in the previous scene.
  • Sun study effect: The longitude on the 3D globe is no longer inverted.
  • Sun study effect: The longitude/latitude slider values are now displayed as N/S/W/E instead of +/-180 degrees.
  • The 360 degree Reflection texture is now rendered correctly again on Nvidia cards.
  • The sky is now only shown in preview quality when sun/moon sliders are keyframed.
  • Video clip types should now be synchronised properly when dragging the time line slider.
  • Vignette effect: This effect has been improved so that the rendered MP4 is closer to the preview.
  • The terrain material now receives soft shadows again.
  • The camera position in the preview should now match the rendered camera position more closely.
  • Aligned objects: It should now be possible to cycle through more than 10 aligned objects via the Arrow Up key when using the Move effect and Advanced Move effect.
  • Shadow effect: The sliders have been renamed, Ambient shadows are now called Soft shadows, and the Ambient Diffuse slider has been removed.
  • Custom map output: Material ID colours should now be more varied.
  • In/Out effect: Blur/Black Blur combined with an Overlay image no longer results in pink image edges.
  • Edit clip mode: Saved camera keyframe positions should now match the positions of the camera when keyframes were saved.
  • Edit Clip mode: Global Illumination is no longer visible in a clip without the Global Illumination effect.
  • Edit Clip: Camera keyframe thumbnails are now updated again when selected.
  • Global Illumination effect: Trees and plants no longer flicker in the Movie preview window while playing back the movie with this effect turned on.
  • Hide Layer effect: This effect should now respect the clip duration, even when camera keyframes are deleted.
  • Handheld camera effect: Tilt keyframes should now work correctly in ‘Entire Movie‘ mode.
  • Lumion should no longer switch from your selected clip to ‘Entire movie’ when you finish rendering a still image.
  • Overlay effect: The scale of Overlay images is now correct if you render a video followed by a Single image.
  • 3D Points are now also displayed in Movie mode.
  • Effects that are used in both a clip and in ‘Entire movie‘ now warn you via an overlay.
  • Global Illumination effect: It is no longer possible to assign Global Illumination to Omni Lights.
  • The brightness of an image sequence is no longer different the second time you render it.
  • Planar reflections should now work correctly on a user-submitted model.
  • Motion Blur effect: All animated models should now be affected by Motion Blur when rendering them in 3-star quality.
  • Motion Blur effect: When rendering a Single image, the first subframe out of 16 is no longer rendered at an incorrect animation frame.
  • Reflection effect: The Flicker Reduction default slider value has been tweaked.
  • The Reflection Control object is now offset by 20cm when snapping to other objects to prevent it from being too close to other objects.

  • Show Layer effect: Layers are now shown correctly in a Single image rendering.

  • Stereoscopic settings effect: This effect is no longer being rendered when the effect is hidden.
  • Stereoscopic settings effect: Warning message added if a user tries to render a Single stereoscopic image.

PHOTO MODE

  • 3D Points are now also displayed in Photo mode.
  • Double-click to teleport should now work.
  • The preview window during rendering is no longer high up on the screen in 1920×1080.

  • Waterfall material: A low Bump factor slider value no longer makes the foam disappear.
  • Load Material Set: The ‘Overwrite Materials’ button has been moved.
  • Load Material Set: The crosshair is no longer on top of the window.
  • Improved reflections for glossy surfaces.

SOUND

  • Sound: The sound preview now stops when you move the mouse away from the sound thumbnail image.
  • Mute Sound -> On: Sound is no longer audible when rendering stops.

MODEL LIBRARY

  • Woman_African_0001_Walk: This model is now walking at the correct speed.
  • The bounding boxes should now match the new animated 3D people better than before.
  • The pivot points of Fountains are no longer slightly offset.
  • 3D silhouette people/animals are no longer black at night.
  • Animations of pigeons are now randomised properly.
  • Falling Leaves effect: New ‘Leaf Size‘ range.

LUMION VIEWER

  • The 360 degree Reflection texture is now updated correctly after pressing Enter twice.
  • The Handheld camera effect no longer causes jitter in Movie Playback mode.
  • The version number is now displayed in the titlebar.
  • Return toggle should retain Movie effects when you switch back to Explore mode.

  • Languages: Improved layout when using other languages than English.
  • The Error.log file has been optimised so that the file size remains small at all times.

  • Languages: The flags of Australia, New Zealand and UK have been removed in an effort to simplify Lumion. There is now only one English option, i.e. EN (the American flag).

  • Overlay Image effect: Images with Alpha channels should now be working correctly again.
  • Lumion should no longer crash when previewing a custom frame range on a specific Nvidia graphics card with a specific driver version.
  • Shadow effect: The Sun shadow range maximum range has been doubled so that it’s the same as in Lumion 3.x.

BUILD MODE

  • Terrain: The Tile size maximum range has been increased from 50 to 500.
  • Landscape: The Color section buttons have been moved down a bit.
  • SpeedTree models are no longer moved to the camera position when moved beyond a certain distance.
  • Fog is now cleared on the Ocean after rendering a still image in Photo mode and then going to Build mode.
  • Trees and plants are no longer moved to Layer 1 when their colour properties are altered.
  • Replace with Library Selection: Objects on Layer X no longer ends up on Layer 1.
  • Foliage wind effect applied to Entire Movie and Clip: If both effects are deleted wind is no longer affected in Build mode.

MODEL LIBRARY

  • The following flowers have been moved from the Plants tab to the Flowers tab: BirdofParadise, LotusFlower, Sunflowers_RT and the Waterlily.
  • Transport model material: These models are no longer too contrasty and slightly oversaturated.
  • The glow effect around selected model thumbnails is now more visible.
  • It is now easier to see which model tab is selected.

SOUND

  • Muted sound is no longer unmuted after finishing a movie rendering.

PHOTO/MOVIE MODES

  • Effects no longer ‘leak’ into the last frame of a previous clip.
  • Reflection effect: Overlap of reflection planes is no longer causing incorrect reflections in a user-submitted scene.
  • Entire Movie with Move effect: Animation is no longer disregarded when rendering a single image in a clip.
  • The tonemapping has been tweaked (This may affect the brightness in older scenes).
  • Shadows no longer flicker or get capped in a spherical shape in a user-submitted scene when the camera focal length is above a certain value.
  • It is no longer possible to apply the Foliage wind effect while ‘Entire Movie’ is active.
  • The Vignette effect has been moved to the Artistic tab.
  • Global Illumination effect: It is no longer possible to select the Reflection Control object in the Spotlight selector window.

MISCELLANEOUS

  • Lumion 4 is no longer compatible with 32-bit versions of Windows.
  • Some typos and incorrect labels were fixed in the user interface.
  • Island template scene: Terrain texture slot 3 and 4 can now be changed again.
  • +2GB LS3/LS4 files no longer make Lumion Pro and Lumion Viewer crash when loading them.
  • The glow effect around a selected model thumbnail is now more visible.
  • It is now easier to see which model category tab is selected.
