These new features remove the coldness of computer-generated imagery by seeking out edges, roughness, and other properties of natural materials to make them look like they’ve been around a while.
Cover materials with leaves or add weathering, aging and transparency. Add light strips or area lighting, transform a wall into thousands of leaves or have ivy creeping from the ground up, all with the click of a button.
The new area light and light strip options provide a broad range of exciting possibilities, allowing you to enhance both interiors and exteriors with lights that go beyond the simple spotlight. Within seconds, you can throw in some cove lighting, add warmth to a room with the subtle lighting of a surface, or simulate daylight shining through a window, all to help clients fully step into the world you’ve created.
Lumion 7 now allows you to apply transparency to materials which is ideal for creating curtains with the light streaming through them. You can also show the layout inside your model by looking into it, through transparent walls.
The new waxiness feature uses a technique called subsurface scattering. It works perfectly on materials like marble to create a waxy-looking translucent surface. In typical Lumion style, this feature can be added and adjusted using just a single slider.
Until now, making material look weathered or aged required an artist to paint textures by hand. Lumion 7 makes this painstaking process a relic of the past. Now, you can create imperfections, impart authenticity, and age materials with a simple click of the mouse.
Remove the look and feel of computer graphics by adding rust to steel, wear and tear on wood, or dirt and moss on stones. The resulting realism makes materials look like they’ve always been there, adding a depth of authenticity that won’t go unnoticed.
With the unique ability to transform simple shapes into realistic foliage, customized leafy hedges can be made of any shape and size you can imagine. Add creeping ivy (and other climbing plants) along entire surfaces like walls or statues. Or add a simple touch of green on the ground. Whether you need to cover whole walls with one of Lumion 7’s nine climbing plant presets, or you’re adding a dash of leafiness to existing materials, you’ll breathe new life into your design.
Put your models on the map with OpenStreetMap. This functionality allows you to directly pick a location anywhere on Earth. Lumion then generates corresponding 3D maps by importing 2D data from the OpenStreetMap database.

No more fiddling around with saving, transferring, and uploading your videos. Simply start a render job, log into your YouTube account, and directly upload the finished movie from within Lumion. It’s never been easier to share your design videos.
The addition to Lumion 7 of a favorites function for materials allows you to save most individual materials that you have tweaked to perfection, making it a simple task to retrieve them and use them again. This feature gives you another possibility to reuse materials, in addition to being able to save sets of materials. No more searching for that “just right” touch on your materials in new projects. Simply pull up your favorites or load in a materials set, click, and you’re done!
New in Lumion 7.3: LiveSync® provides a real-time high quality 3D view of your Revit® design. This plugin for Revit® creates a live connection with Lumion, so that changes in Revit® can be previewed in real-time in Lumion.
Live synchronization can help you work faster, for example in the early stages of design, when you are making frequent adjustments to your Revit® model.
20 New curtain presets, each with a specific pattern and transparency.
20 New weathered and aged materials, including gold, bronze, silver, leather, plastic, stone and wood.
9 New foliage materials (Lumion Pro only).
The Lumion content library – an invaluable resource for quickly realizing a rich and full visualization of your design – is included with every Lumion purchase(3). With Lumion 7, the library has been expanded to include a host of new trees, more character models, new lights, and much more.
The addition of new HD content provides objects that are more detailed, have sharper textures, and better surface shading, all with a focus on improving the realism of your designs.
